2016: Independence Day weekend

We are exploring a small part of Michigan over our Nation's Independence Day weekend.  It's a 2-n-1 trip.   Our Llewsie Llew is due to go back to C Fox Kennels for her intermediate bird dog training.  this time she is leaving us for 8 weeks!  Seems like so long.  Last summer she was just a baby, 6 months and went for 4 weeks.  She came back a different dog.  It was not obidience training, but teaching her to hunt.  This go around, it's like her Jedi School.  Tim the breeder/trainer said she will be so much more mature when she comes home.
We found a great campground, Duck Creek RV Resort to stay at about an hour from our breeder/trainer. So we set up camp on Friday, about 385 miles.  Everything in the RV takes about an hour longer than the car.  Duck Creek RV Resort was super nice, cement pad that were level, extra parking, fire ring, table, bike rentals, pool in the shape of a duck!
Saturday morning we drove Llewsie over to C Fox.  She got to see her Mama, Callie.   Lily is pictures with Callie, she has two orange ears.  Callie had a little this past winter as well.   We also were able to see two of Llewsie's litter mates, Parker and LC.  All cuties. This is Tim's farm, lots of running room, the kennel, barn full of training birds, and his wife is a groomer.  We know that Llewsie is in good hands but we will miss her terribly!

That afternoon we walked around Grand Haven, which is a well kept town on Lake Michigan.  The state beach, also had a campground and was packed.  We walked a long route on the boardwalk after lunch.  Kids had an ice cream/snow cone.

Happy 4th of July!  A little selfie action!  We are trying to be better about taking a few family selfies....Mama is never in the pictures!
More Selfies.  Charlie is hanging out by his new Jeep.  We got a Rubicon Hard Rock a few weeks ago.  We surprised him with blue, his favorite color.

Lily and Charlie rented these cool banana bikes at the campground on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, we went to the Muskegon State Park to hang at the beach for the day.   It was so pretty along the coast line and had a nice almost Gulf like sand which was super soft and the water was very clean. We will be back to Michigan at the end of the summer to pick up Llewsie but we are staying farther North in Taverse Bay.  Excited to see that part.

The good news of the trip, everything went smoothly!  YAHOO!  Oh minus a bottle of white wine falling out of the fridge and breaking.  Darn it!  Live and learn, wine goes on the bottle shelf and open carefully after traveling.
