Last week Lily enjoyed her third year at Atwood Yacht Club Junior Sailing Camp. The camp is all run by volunteers, mostly retirees who love to sail at Atwood. Just so happens that my dad is the Camp Director and my mom is the Camp Nurse. I offered to help this year.....IF
I could bring our motor home and park it at the yacht club. Most volunteers stay on their boats, their lake cottages or a tent by the kids. Not this girl!
The yacht club is not set up to be an over night camp, but they have made it work. The girls sleep in the big white tent, with little tents inside, and the boys are in the pavilion/make shift dorm. The green tent is a chaperone.
Charlie is not old enough to attend camp as a camper this year, age 9 is the start. So he went with me and helped as well. Kind of fun for him to see what camp is all about in case he decides to go next year. Charlie was a super helper, he filled the coolers with ice and water bottles every morning for the safety boats, and then he helped at meal time as well.l
All the kids have to take a swimming test first, then they learn how to capsize a Sunfish. Just in case. Below you can see the Sunfish tied to two sides of the dock. The campers learn to capsize it, then have to flip it back over.
Charlie made buddies with camper Mara who played cards with him for 2 days!
Such a sweet gal.

| Lily went to camp with her BFF Morgan again this year. They are both awesome little sailors. |
| On Thursday, the campers sailed to the boater's beach and were able to play in the water for a bit. |
On the last day, the kids go out to show the parents what they have learned. Check out Morgan and Lily with the wind directly behind them!
Lily was the last camper to leave. She of course needed a picture with the best camp director EVER, her papa. She was so sweet, she said, "I always miss my parents and ready to go home, but I am really going to miss Sailing Camp." Then shed a few tears.
All the campers on the last day with their shirts. "At first you have to sail a little boat".| Camp Sunset |
