Day 18

August 2

Just like at home, we have to clean, fix things, go to the grocery, wash cars, and  laundry. Today we washed the jeep, cleaned, tidied up, and went to the grocery. Then we made the haul out to Jalama Beach. Beautiful twist and turns though the mountain (which is mostly brown due to the drought), over railroad tracks then boom, you are at the beach. There is even camping there. We ate our packed lunch first and then played. Water was rough and it's numbly freezing on the Central Coast. San Diego area is about the only California waters that are truly warm enough to swim.

The West coast has tons of clouds til about mid-morning & usually burn off. We had a warm sun & a few cloud patches while at Jalama. That's why this looks so hazy too.

How cool to see a passenger train travel along the beach. Aunt Shari, this is the one you went on from a Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo.

Kids had a great time playing & Charlie took building sand castles very seriously.

Old school life guard station, palm tree & mountain...enough said.

Happy to report that when we got back, 5.5 hours later, Saylor seemed to have slept the whole time we were gone, was feeling better and happy to see us.
