Day 6: Wild Wild West

Day 6: July 21

Our day started at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. http://centerofthewest.org

Apparently Buffalo Bill was a jack of all trades and pretty much did everything. The Center had a Buffalo Bill Musuem, Plains Indians Museum, Native American Western Art, Natural History section, huge Firearms section (over 5000), Bill's childhood home, and more. Seriously....we spent at least 4 hours in there and that was the fast tour.  Tickets were good for two days, which I can see you'd need. We each enjoyed something different, Jason-firearms; Charlie-hands-on kid stuff, Lily-natural history, me-Native American photography.  It was absolutely amazing all of the actual items that they had of Buffalo Bill's and Annie Oakley. The center did a wonderful job painting a picture of what it was like during that time. 

After lunch we did a little shopping searching for a few Western items, post cards, etc.  How do they look with their new items? 

I had to pull them each aside separately, and before we went to a show to take their pictures. So sorry I can't make these bigger, maybe when you view them on a desktop or your device you can enlarge them. The kids also spent their money that Nana & Papa gave them on cool Western belts. Lily's has a horse belt buckle and Charlie's has a gun (looks like his cap gun). 

Ever seen Wild Wild West shoot out on the street? We sat outside the Irma Hotel (which Bufffalo Bill had built) and watched a reenactment of a gun fight with Doc Holiday, Wild Bill Hickock, Wyatt Earp, and the bad guys. It was fun to see, something local. 

We played on the playground that night, ate an easy dinner and went to bed early. Off to enter Yellowstone National Park from the east Entrance.
