July 20
Most of I-90 seems to be under construction. So much so that some of the bridge lanes are so narrow, Jason was white knuckling it. But of course he handled it great and trucked on. Amazing scenery to see how fast the terrain changes from one state to another. Minnesota was nothing but corn fields, South Dakota was full of lush dark tall green skinny pines, and as soon we crossed into Wyoming, the mountain ridges started. We traveled 405 miles from Rapid City area, South Dakota to Cody, Wyoming. But first, we had to cross through Big Horn National Forrest. We didn't realize it before hand.....but we traveled all the way up the mountain twisting and turn with the big rig & tow...all the way to 8500 feet elevation! We passed rocks that were 500 million and 2.5 billion years old! Isn't that crazy?! About half way down, we stopped to give the brakes a chance to cool down. We found a beautiful waterfall.
So I'm going to take a minute break from travel talk to have Lily, aka Fidget, Jitterbug, Babycakes, Lilykins talk. Doesn't see look different? Well she's 9 now, by several days! Hehehe. New glasses does change a face! Seven days with braces and expander too. Tomorrow will be her first day to actually turn the expander. Her mouth looks a little like a crooked railroad. Her poor middle front tooth was sticking out so far it wouldn't come down anymore. In 7 days we see a noticeable difference already. It's taken her a few days to adjust her speech, has been eating soft foods, but there was been some kind of pre-teen grumpiness that has come along with it! But she's been a real trooper.
We arrived in Cody, Wyoming around 4:30 p.m. and settled in at the Ponderosa Campground. Nothing fancy, no pool, simple playground, but close to everything in the middle of town. We changed a few plans and decided to hit the Cody Stampede Nite Rodeo right off the ba.! With Lily learning to ride English and Western we all thought it would be fun....well three of us. It didn't start til 8 p.m. Mountain time & my little Boo was tired. He kept asking why do we have to go to this!
Real or fake? This folks is A real Brahma bull! Lily was all about getting on him, Charlie however...wanted nothing to do with it. For once in the last 5 days gee was quiet and reserved. Jenn Lewis, remember the camel last summer..same thing!

We saw bull riding, barrel racing, calf tying, saddle broncs and bareback broncs. Again, thanks Uncle Gil for the tip sitting above the chutes! We were able to see the cowboys get ready & everything up close.
Charlie thought the clown was funny.
Cowboys getting ready.
The show!
