2016: Days 24, 25, & 26

It took us all day to drive the entire state of Montana.  Some 730 miles and took us like 15 hours.  We  were trying to get to Rapid City, SD and we made it but the last few hours were exhausting.  Tons of deer on the side of the roads.  We did take a small stop to stretch our legs at the Little Big Horn Battlefield National Park.  We arrived just in time to hear the ranger give a talk about Custer's last battle.  Check another National Park off our list.

We stayed over night at a Cabella's parking lot and had breakfast at Wall Drug Store. My parents took us here when we were little....in the middle of no where, the small pharmacy offered free ice water to travelers to bring them in....and that's how they became famous.  Yummy breakfast, walked around the drug store, and back in the RV for a drive through The Badlands National Park. It was right across the road and part of our route. We drove the RV right through the park.

Can you see the little prairie dogs?  They were everywhere popping their little heads out.
From here, we drove as far as we could into Des Moines, Iowa for over night in Walmart parking lot. It took another whole day of driving, but we made it home around 11 pm on August 14th.  Overall we put on some 6000 miles.  It was a wonderful trip and can't wait for more!
