Two weeks in Buellton always seems like a long time at the start of the trip, but I reality it flew by. This part of the trip was not what we considered a vacation. Well let's be honest, every day is a vacation to Lily and Charlie. Jason was working and we came along with him for company and decent meals instead of takeout every night. Lol!
Last night, we packed up camp, checked tire pressures, then had dinner at Rusy's, another favorite Local Mexican place. We were discussing over dinner how we didn't visit certain places we normally do on our West trip but it's always good to change things up. Charlie had a homemade crispy beef taco last night, that looked like a fry pie...when we finished he said "That was so good, I love to eat!" That is a phrase we have heard non-stop the last couple weeks. I think the boy finally feels good, is growing & enjoying his food. He is putting on weight at last and recently had a great checkup with his allergist.
We were on the road at 7:15 a.m. Our campground had these cute safari tents for rent. They have plush King, queen and bunk beds in them with flat screen t.v., & outdoor kitchens.
And these cute wine cottages to rent. I'm gonna look into this for our return trip in the fall for Tilton's grand opening.
Our route today is from Buellton to Mt. Shasta, California. 10 hours of driving through the Cental Valley, up to Stockton, Sacramento & Redding. California is almost always in a draught but this year seems to be particularly bad. Today's drive was through a large portion of America's crop farms. We saw miles and miles of pistachios, almonds, olives, tomatoes, melons, vineyards, strawberries, citrus, rice, sugarcane, cabbage & tettuce fields. Amazing to see all of this in a 10 hour drive. There is a problem with water sources for the farmers; farmers have Trump signs up everywhere. Apparently Trump has promised to get those farmers some water....
We drove 575 miles over 10 hours today. We saw beautiful parts of California we have never seen before. Just a pit stop at Mt.Shasta KOA over night. Beautiful mountain with snow on it!
After a cocktail and walk, we made a quick dinner of salad, sautéed asparagus, mushroom ravioli (gnocchi for Charlie) with pine nuts and homemade pesto that I brought from home. Making it easy on myself and using paper plates tonight.
